BIOTRONIK is releasing in the U.S. its Edora Line of Pacemakers that come with the firm’s MRI AutoDetect tech**logy. MRI AutoDetect, which makes the Edora SR-T the smallest MR Conditional device on the market, is a setting that is enabled by a physician up to fourteen days prior to an MRI scan. When the patient wearing the pacemaker gets close to the magnet, the implant switches into a special safe mode to prevent any ab**rmal events. After the scan is complete and the patient is out of the scanner, the implant automatically reverts into its **rmal state.
The smaller Edora SR-T weighs only 21 grams and has a volume of 10 cc, yet may supposedly offer up to 13 years of battery life.
The Edoras also wirelessly connect to BIOTRONIK’s Home Monitoring system that lets cardiologists keep a close eye on their patients, and Closed Loop Stimulation, the what the firm touts as “the most physiological rate response.”
