The implant features*4-ports and 16-channels to help control Chronic neuropathic Pain by electrically stimulating the Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG), a body of neurons responsible for managing Pain signals moving up the spine. Of **te, St. Jude so far is the only firm offering a DRG stimulator for Pain management. The Proclaim DRG is programmed by a physician wirelessly using an iPad tablet, while the patient gets an iPod touch to tune the therapy depending on the Pain experienced. It does **t require recharging thanks to a large battery sufficient to last for the life of the device, and the software inside it is upgradeable as new versions come out.
