California becomes first state in the nation to approve $15 minimum wage
California lawmakers on Thursday approved a historic piece of legislation that will raise the minimum wage from $10 to $15 per hour over the next six years, ushering the state to the forefront of a national movement to lift the pay floor. The first of many incremental increases is slated for Jan. 1, when the current state-wide minimum wage is bumped up to $10.50
