Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu vowed Turkey would do everything in its power to prevent the area from falling to insurgents. ?We wouldn?t want Kobani to fall. We welcomed our brothers who came from Kobani. We?ll do whatever we can to prevent this from happening. Turkey is the protector of Syrian Kurds, just like as it is of Turkmen and Arabs,? Ankara is wary of being dragged into a wider conflict and of aiding Kurdish fighters linked to the PKK party, which has been waging a three-decade long insurgency against the Turkish state.
