A number of Private schools in the Eastern Province, Riyadh and Jeddah have increased their school tuition fees, apparently contradicting the Ministry of Education's approved fee structure. One school in Riyadh is charging SR31,000 a year for secondary students, even though the ministry's website states it can only charge a maximum of SR23,000. The ministry has set the tuition fees Private schools should be charging and has published them on its site as a reference point for parents. Member of the education committee at the Shoura Council, Dr. Ahmad Al-Mefreh, said the minister of education has set up a detailed mechanism for tuition fee increases.
