United Nations, July 21 (IANS) UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned Sunday the persecution of mi**rities in Iraq by the Islamic State (IS) and related armed groups. The UN chief is "particularly disturbed" by reports of threats against Christians in Mosul and other IS-controlled parts of Iraq, including an ultimatum to either convert, pay a tax, leave, or face imminent execution, Xinhua quoted spokesperson of Ban as saying in a statement. He added that the UN will continue to help meet the urgent humanitarian needs of those displaced by the conflict and the terrorist threat in Iraq.
