The holy month of Ramadan will begin on Sunday, June 29, 2014, in the UAE and other Gulf countries as the moon was **t sighted in the region on Friday, according to the Saudi Supreme Court. Meanwhile, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched the UAE Water Aid campaign to provide access to fresh drinking water for five million persons around the world who suffer from shortage of potable water. The campaign, which coincides with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, will involve digging wells and providing water pumps to provide areas in need with water purification equipment. Dubai Cares also launched its Ramadan campaign by urging the UAE residents to ramp up efforts in order to ensure universal education for children in developing countries.
