Avengers: Endgame almost featured this classic Infinity Gauntlet moment from the comi

Last year’s Marvel epic Avengers: Endgame was such a huge film, with so much story to tie up, that it isn’t surprising to hear that there were plenty of story moments that were considered but never made it into the final cut of the movie.

We’ve already heard about that emotional Tony Stark scene that was cut, plus a whole host of other little moments that didn’t make it in.

And now a concept artist who worked on Endgame has revealed a classic Marvel comics moment that he drew for an early draft, but didn’t end up making it into the film (via Screenrant).

A significant portion of Endgame featured the Avengers who had survived Thanos’ infamous finger snap travelling back in time to collect the Infinity Stones before the villain could get his hands on them.

While the heroes are in the past, several of them encounter past versions of themselves including Thanos’ adopted daughter Nebula, played by Karen Gillan â?? and past Nebula is a lot more sneaky and villainous than the version who had teamed up with the Avengers.

MCU concept artist Stephen Schirle has shared an image he drew which didn’t make it into the final film which shows past Nebula wielding the powerful Infinity Gauntlet in an attempt to prove herself to Thanos.

Another Marvel hero can be seen in the picture too, with Rocket (Bradley Cooper) looking on.

Had the scene made it into the movie it would have been a reference to the Marvel comics, which saw Nebula use the Gauntlet to heal herself from the wounds inflicted by Thanos, but as it ended up being cut we’ll sadly never see this moment on the big screen.

But as Marvel boss Kevin Feige has previously said he wouldn’t change a moment of Endgame, it may well be that we did see the very best version of the movie.

There’s still plenty more for Marvel fans to look forward to in the coming months as Phase 4 kicks off in May with the long-awaited Black Widow movie, which will delve into Avenger Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson)’s past.

Black Widow has a May 1, 2020 release date in the UK and the US.
