Artwork paying tribute to the author of the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists has appeared in Liverpoolâ??s Dale Street.
The piece was commissioned by
Liverpool council in recognition of 100
years since the
death of
Robert Tressell, who died in
Liverpool aged 41 on his way to emigrate to Canada.
He was buried in a paupers grave in Walton Cemetery, his great socialist work unpublished.
Tonight comics Ricky Tomlinson and Johnny Vegas, who are fans of the book, will debate at the town hall how relevant the author is today.
