افتراضي 92% Of ?Mass Effect 2? Players Were Good Guys, Dev Says

We often play games to escape from the stresses of the real world, even if just for a few hours, but it appears that most players, when given the option, will choose to play as the Good guy. This is true for Mass Effect 2 at least, according to a tweet from former BioWare cinematic designer John Ebenger (thanks, Kotaku).

The tweet in question comes in response to another Twitter user who noted that despite the choices many games have, he will always choose the ‘polite’ route. You can see the original tweet below, along with Ebenger’s response, where he states that around 92% of Mass Effect 2 Players went with Paragon (good guy) options, despite the work that the devs put into the darker, Renegade side.

If you’re familiar with the Mass Effect games, you’ll know that you are given a lot of dialogue options throughout which can affect your in-game relationships and story arcs. The Paragon options Were generally the polite, friendly responses while the Renegade route often painted you as a bit of an ass.

Of course, whichever path you walked, the ending would always turn out much the same but even considering this, it seems that a lot of people found it difficult to even be slightly rude to crew members or other NPCs. And to be honest, I can relate. I mean, what if you ruin your chances of romancing half the crew? Nope, not worth the risk.

?Mass Effect Players Were GoodGarrus in Mass Effect 2 / Credit: BioWare In other Mass Effect news, we recently learned that BioWare appears to be working on Mass Effect 5 (a working title, clearly) though it is still in the very early stages of development. BioWare’s executive producer, Mike Darrah also spoke of the future of the series in an interview with Polygon.

“There’s a lot of stories to be told”, he explained. “We could pull on the threads we put down with Andromeda; we could pull on threads from Mass Effect 3. There’s a lot of interesting space to be explored.”

But if you don’t think you can wait that long for a new Mass Effect game, perhaps the Garrus body pillow will help see you through the lull?
