Star Wars? new series will introduce the first-ever Wookiee Jedi
Star Wars’ newly-announced The High Republic book series is set to introduce the first-ever Wookiee Jedi to the saga (well, at least the Disney canon). The series will be set around 200 years before the events of the Skywalker Saga began in The Phantom Menace, depicting the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic at the height of their powers. Among the new crop of characters depicted in the artwork for novel Light of the Jedi is a Wookiee holding a lightsaber â?? and author Charles Soule has confirmed some more details. <span class="lqip lazyload" data-expand="2000" data-lqip="https://hameed.nwar.uk/vb/w101/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Star-Wars-new-series-will-introduce-the-first-ever-Wookiee-Jedi.jpg&frame=1&lqip=yes"/> Related: Star Wars‘ Daisy Ridley lands first post-Rise of Skywalker movie </p> Lucas Films “Yes, that’s a Wookiee Jedi â?? his name is Burryaga Agaburry, and he is wonderful,” he tweeted, adding: “The lady in front is named Avar Kriss. The other folks have names too, but you’ll meet them later.” Of course, fans of the Extended Universe will know that this is not the first-ever Wookiee Jedi to exist in Star Wars per se â?? but Disney’s canon has strayed away from that timeline. You may also count Gungi, who was training to be a Jedi in The Clone Wars (which is now under Disney), though he was only a Padawan and was likely killed during the Order 66 purge. This is a hopeful, optimistic time, when the Jedi and the Galactic Republic are at their height. “But of course, into this glorious new era something wicked this way comes,” he added. “This initiative will give readers young and old a new corner of the galaxy to explore through rich, meaningful stories.
