Artist Robyn Woolston unveils artwork made of rubbish at Liverpool’s Walker Art Gal

</p> SHE won the 2012 Liverpool Art Prize with an installation made up of 132,000 plastic knives and forks and a silver birch tree.

Now Artist Robyn Woolston has unveiled her latest waste and recycling-related artwork â?? nine giant bales of waste plastic weighing a total of more than three tonnes, the equivalent of at least 18 baby elephants.

Strangers In A Strange Land juxtaposes the plastic bags and packaging, some of it from John Lewis and Waitrose and all loaned by Liverpool recycling giant Centriforce, with the ornate splendour of the Walker Art Gallery.

The work will also have an extra life when the exhibition closes in June, with the bales being turned into furniture and other recycled products.

Robyn said: â??Itâ??s not often people can have this conversation and be this close to this quantity of waste.â?*
