VIDEO: Amazing referee camera footage from Australia ? should it come here?
</p>THE latest development in sports broadcasting has been unveiled in Australia – Ref Cam. Ref-Cam shows referee’s-eye-view footage, filmed by a tiny camera on the side of his head. It made its trial debut in a Super Rugby Union match between the Queensland Reds and New South Wales Waratahs, with official Chris Pollack wearing the camera Weighing just 75 grams, it is powered by a vest worn underneath their shirt by the referee, with broadcaster Fox describing it as a game changer. It ios also backed by the Australian Rugby Union. Fox Sports spokesman Gary Burns said rugby fans will be blown away by the angles the camera can produce. He added: â??The referee has the best view of anyone on the field, but now we are able to share that point-of-view with those watching at home.â?* The question now is should ref cam come to the UK, with the obvious benefits it would bring for television, but also referee training and potentially stamping out player dissent.
