It’s been 23 long years, six tournaments and no trophies since John Barnes took the charts by storm with his rapping on the England footy anthem World In Motion. But it appears the former Reds star hasnâ??t lost his touch on the mic â?? in fact, if anything, age (and maybe just a little alcohol) has worked wonders for his vocal skills. ![]() ![]() Video Loading
Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in8Cancel
Play now Insider hears John impressed fellow guests at former teammate Mark Wrightâ??s 50th birthday party with an impromptu rendition of Sugarhill Gangâ??s Rapperâ??s Delight. And heâ??s now become an unlikely YouTube success with almost 50,000 hits after Juice FM presenter Baz Todd uploaded his phone footage of the performance. Baz had initially encouraged his all-time football hero into an encore of the 1990 New Order tune but he declined, preferring to go back even further for a late 70s dancefloor classic. Baz tells Insider: â??We were all at a surprise party organised by Markâ??s wife Sue at their house. There were lots of ex-footballers there and Chris Maloney was the main entertainment. â??I was a guest and also a host, I had to introduce Chris, so when Chris had done his act I suggested John should get up and do World In Motion. He said â??hang on, Iâ??ll do something elseâ??, got the mic and really got into it. â??The DJ didnâ??t actually have Rapperâ??s Delight, the nearest he had was Chicâ??s Good Times, so John just rapped the whole thing over the top of that.â?* The 49-year-old ex-England and Liverpool winger certainly stole the show with his party piece. â??He was amazing, absolutely awesome,â?* says Baz. â??I did ask John before I put it on YouTube and he was fine with it, but he sounds really good so heâ??s got nothing to worry about.â?* Source link أكثر... |
