Coronation Street newcomer Ted Robbins inundated with support as he joins the soap
</p> Liverpool actor Ted Robbins has been flooded with good luck messages as he joined the cast of Coronation Street. The Phoenix Nights star – who celebrated his 60th with a visit to the cobbles – will play a long-desired love interest for Mary. Producer Stuart Blackburn announced the news while Corrieâ??s official twitter account wrote: â??Mary to be a mistress in a love affair and weâ??ve cast Ted Robbins as her love interest, Brendan! #CorriePressDay.â?* Stuart said: â??Weâ??ve got romance and comedy coming up for Mary. â??Thatâ??s for the first time in a long, long time. Sheâ??s going to meet someone and fall in love. He added: â??We all know how completely passionate she is – sheâ??ll fall in love times 100. Unfortunately itâ??s with a neâ??er do well called Brendan. â??Fortunately for us, heâ??s going to be played by the brilliant Ted Robbins. â??He did a fantastic audition. Stuart Blackburn revealed at the heart of all this is going to be the Platts ongoing feud with Callum. Royâ??s relationship with Cathy will also be â??put under huge threatâ?* after the pair hit a key moment in their relationship. The live episode will be Coronation Streetâ??s third, after marking their 40th and 50th anniversary in the same way in 2000 and 2010 respectively.
