Aldi Set To Roll Out Self-Service Tills
There are few things in life that can induce anxiety like paying for your shopping at the supermarket. Frozen produce comes flying through at supersonic speeds and it can feel like you’re in a silent race against time with the till operator. If this experience has ever proven too much for you, you’re in luck – self service Tills are being rolled out in Aldi stores across the UK. Following a successful trial at a branch in Glascote, Staffordshire, the budget supermarket has decided to install the Tills in four more stores to try it out.  I’m getting nervous just looking at this. Credit: PA An Aldi spokesperson told the Liverpool Echo: “Following positive feedback, we’ve extended our trial of Self-Service checkouts to four more locations to further improve the customer experience.”According to the newspaper, the four shops that have been chosen for the new Tills as part of the retail chain’s ongoing trial are Woodgate in Leicester, Manchester Arndale, Bishop’s Stortford in Hertfordshire and Bedford. LADbible has reached out to Aldi for confirmation. But not everyone is as pleased about the new Roll out as you might expect, with shoppers in the Aldi Shoppers UK Facebook group taking their thoughts to the internet. One person wrote: “I refuse to use them. They are doing people out of a job in my opinion.” Someone else said: “I avoid them like a plague as I always end up having to get an assistant to help me and then I look like a nincompoop.” Another added: “No, no, no, prices don’t come down and doing away with jobs.” While someone else said: “No, not for me, I like to have a chat with staff!” Some, understandably, weren’t happy about the possibility of dodgy Tills (we’ve all had our own experiences with Tills breaking down whenever you drop anything on the scales, right?).  Credit: PA One shopper stated: “Hate the self-serve Tills as they’re always going wrong, and then have to wait forever for someone to come along to sort it out.”Someone else said: “I think it would take longer to get through the checkouts. People will be frustrated.” Although, for the shopper who prefers a less intense experience, it seems like it’s something to look forward to. One said: “Personally I’d like this. As I’m super quick.” Someone else added: “It’s good for people who only have a couple of items in their baskets.” Another wrote: “Love them when popping in for a couple of things.
