The former Brookside actor showed off his super toned muscles after hitting the gym in Liverpool earlier this week.

And concentrating on his enviable physique has been a welcome distraction after splitting from ex-wife Emma Stephen.

Ray says: â??Itâ??s been a tough year for me, as you know, and this was a way of focusing my mind on something positive.

â??But the show was the kick start I needed. It inspired me because I was skating every week and losing weight.

â??I started to look a bit decent and I thought Iâ??m going to take it a step further, and I got into it.

â??Youâ??ve got Sylvain (Longchambon) and Andy (Buchanan) who were tanked (muscly) – but they were older than me – and I just wanted to get fit like the lads.â?*

Ray – who has made a remarkable transformation from his days as bullied â??babyfaceâ?? 10-year-old Anthony Murray in Brookside – has had a huge reaction on social media.

He has been visiting the gym five times a week, often spending several hours there.

And the former X Factor runner-up, who is planning to release new music next year, has revealed ex-Mr Universe Neale Cranwell helped him achieve his bulging biceps.

He says: â??Iâ??ve had some good tips and lifting tips from Neale – heâ??s a bit of a legend in the bodybuilding scene.

â??Iâ??ve known him for a while now, and heâ??s been awesome with eating tips, lifting tips, different ways how to do it. Iâ??ve stuck with it and I really enjoy it.â?*

But would Ray ever consider becoming a semi-pro bodybuilder?

â??No! Iâ??m nowhere near. I like beer! Youâ??ve got no chance,” he laughs.

â??I like a good pint of lager with my dad, I like a Sunday roast, Iâ??m not going to be sitting there drinking coconut oil and all that – I just want a bit of shape and to look good in a T-shirt.â?*

While single Ray isnâ??t short of female admirers, he admits his new image has grabbed attention among men too – especially when heâ??s with his family in Liverpool.

He explains: â??My two brothers are quite big and people say â??You are like three peas in a podâ??. â??Youâ??ve put on a bit of beef there havenâ??t you, Ray?!’â?*

The former ice champion regularly posts photographs after his gym workouts, but heâ??s still remembered for his â??babyfaceâ?? debut in the Merseyside drama in the late nineties.

And itâ??s those comments that led him to posting his fearsome changing room selfie.

Ray says: â??It was funny I was watching Iâ??m A Celebrity the other day and I put a little tweet out there about Lady Câ??s hair – I tweeted and said â??Hair down babe..so much nicerâ??.

“On ITV2’s Iâ??m A Celebrityâ?¦Get Me Out Of Here NOW! they said ‘Celebs have been in touch, weâ??ve had Piers Morgan, weâ??ve had Peter Andre’ and then they said ‘And little, adorable, cute Ray Quinn. Ah heâ??s trying to give some advice’.â?*

The singer was crowned Dancing On Ice champ in 2009 and went on to win the All-Stars series in 2014.
