No Time to Die?s Rami Malek responds to rumours he?s secretly playing classic Bond vi

Rami Malek’s character in the upcoming 25th James Bond movie No Time to Die has been shrouded in mystery ever since his casting was announced.

We do know that the character is called Safin, but we don’t know much more about the villain.

Ever since the film’s first trailer dropped in December, fans have been speculating that Malek’s character is actually classic Bond villain Dr No, who was seen in the first film of the Bondfranchise way back in 1962. <em/>

When asked about the Dr No rumours, Malek told Esquire: “I heard that. Am I? I mean, isn’t that an exciting thing to consider all the way up to the release?”

The actor went on to tease that there will be “a resurgence of an Ian Fleming influence on this film”.

Previously, Malek suggested that his character was “a very nasty piece of work”, but added that Safin does genuinely believe he’s “being altruistic at heart”.

“I think all villains, if you play them correctly, are all misunderstood. They all think they’re being altruistic at heart,” the actor explained last month.

“[Safin] does some malevolent things, but at his core, I think he’s only doing what feels might have been part of how he was affected in his life.”

No Time to Die, the 25th James Bond movie, has a UK release date of April 2, 2020, and opens in the US on April 10, 2020. All the previous Bond movies are available on DVD or Blu-ray.
