We want Brookside back! Fans react to hint it could return
</p> Diehard Brookside Fans have reacted excitedly to news that its creator Phil Redmond is considering a comeback for the soap. He hinted at a possible return online for the Brookie, 12 years after it was controversially cancelled by Channel 4. Devotees of the show, which ran for more than two decades, refused to give up on ever seeing it on screen again and their loyalty could be about to pay off. Lee Brady, who organised the five-year campaign which resulted in a 30th anniversary DVD release, believes a new Brookside on any channel or via Netflix or Amazon would be a big hit. â??When I ran the petition for the DVD, thousands of Fans got involved and so many of the cast supported it,â?* says the 29-year-old. â??I started getting into it about 1999, Jimmy Corkhill was my favourite character, and then when it ended Phil Redmond said it would live on through DVDs. But they only brought the one out at first, even though that had trailers for upcoming others which never came out. </p>  Jimmy Corkhill (Dean Sullivan) and Barry Grant (Paul Usher) come to blows in a Brookside episode from December 1997 â??We pushed to get the anniversary DVD released in 2012 but thereâ??s been nothing since, even though the Fans were still asking me to try and get more. Theyâ??d love to see it back wherever it was.â?* Lee, from Huyton, says a â??where are they now?â?? storyline would be most popular, following life after Brookside Close for some of the best-loved characters. â??I think that would be the most interesting thing, to catch up with them all these years later,â?* he adds. As for it going online, Lee says thatâ??s fine by him. â??Iâ??m not bothered whether itâ??s Netflix or Amazon, Iâ??ll be getting it!â?* he laughs.
