SUKKUR: A three-day international conference on Moen-jo-Daro is underway to understand the script of Indus civilisation.
The Secretary Culture Sindh, Dr Akbar Leghari, who had inaugurated the conference, said it was the first conference being held to understand the language of Moen-jo-Daro as no such effort has ever been made before.
Scholars and archaeologists from Japan, USA, Germany, Italy, Denmark and other countries attended the conference. While addressing the first session, Dr Jonathan Mark Nair from the US said the inscriptions of the stamps and other archaeological sites were found only at the settlements along the Indus, while none of this kind was found at the Ganges or other regional rivers.Speaking to the media, German expert Michael Johnson said the languages from Egypt and Mesopotamian civilisations was read and understood, but the scripts of Indus civilisation defied either since the relics were discovered.
