ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday pledged that the nation will not allow any militant mindset to take Pakistan and its people hostage.In his message on the anniversary of Army Public School Peshawar massacre, which happened on December 16 2014, the prime minister said, “We pledge on this day not to allow any militant mindset to take our country and the nation hostage to its bigoted vision.”“Today, we remember and pray for the survivors and victims of APS Peshawar incident. The blood of the innocent united the nation against all forms of extremism, terrorism, violence and hatred,” he said.The prime minister emphasised, “On this day while paying tribute to our young martyrs, we also laud the sacrifices of our armed forces, police and law-enforcing agencies in the fight against the scourge of terrorism.”Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa while saluting martyrs of the APS and their families said the APS carnage will never be forgotten.“APS carnage will never be forgotten. Salute to martyrs and their families,” the COAS in his message on anniversary of APS tragedy said.General Bajwa in his message said five of the involved terrorists have been hanged through military courts. One of facilitators of terrorists namely Taj Muhammad s/o Alaf Khan was hanged in a jail on Monday. The army chief said the nation has come a long way failing terrorism as a nation.“United we move towards lasting peace and prosperity of Pakistan,” he said.The COAS said that he wanted to give message to forces which are bent upon threatening security of Pakistan that he is chief of such an Army, the Jawans of which are ready to sacrifice their lives for their motherland.General Bajwa also visited families of children who were martyred in the APS carnage.“I highly praise Muhammad Ali Sahib and his wife who sacrificed their children,” the COAS, who was present among family members of Muhammad Ali, said expressing the belief that no force could harm or even touch Pakistan till that time such families exist.General Bajwa said the parents of three children, who were martyred, have said that they are ready to sacrificing their remaining children. “I myself and my Army are thankful to Muhammad Ali Sahib and his family,” the COAS said.Meanwhile, President Dr Arif Alvi in his message on the anniversary of APS carnage reiterated the pledge to root out terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestations from the country.“The nation cannot forget the massacre of little angels/teachers of APS 5 years ago on this day. Hard to commemorate this day without tears in one’s eyes,” the president said in a tweet.“In its remembrance, we reiterate our pledge to root out terrorism and extremism in all its manifestations from our country,” he said.
