ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee will hold its meeting today (Thursday) to elect its new chairman.The post of the PAC chairman was left vacant after the resignation of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif last week which was accepted by Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser.The PML-N has nominated Rana Tanveer Hussain for the post of PAC chairman in place of Shahbaz Sharif.Chief Whip of the PTI in the National Assembly Malik Amir Dogar confirmed that the government has decided that opposition will continue to hold the chairmanship of the PAC.“Though there were strong reservations within the PTI on giving the post to opposition, but the leadership of the party has decided to give the slot to opposition and Prime Minister Imran Khan has also approved it,” he said.Amir Dogar said the government wanted to ensure smooth working of the standing committees of the National Assembly.
