Fidmi Medical, a company based in Israel, won FDA clearance for its new low-profile Enteral Feeding device. The product is designed to help overcome many of the challenges presented by percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tubes, especially dislodgements and clogging of the inside.


The Fidmi product can be delivered as the initial tube, as well as a replacement for previously implanted devices through procedures already established for PEG tubes. It has a flexible mechanism that Prevents the Device from moving out of its proper location. It also features a swappable internal Tube that Patients themselves can replace with a clean one without having to visit a clinic.

The company believes its Device will be an overall cost saver for the healthcare system, as Patients can perform a task normally performed by clinicians. Moreover, regular replacement of the Inner Tube can help Patients guarantee proper nutrition and delivery of medicines through the stomach.

Once the entire Device is ready to be removed, the large component that resides in the stomach can be made to break up and be expelled through the GI system. The rest can simply be pulled out from the stomach, making access through the esophagus unnecessary.
