Siemens touts its “OPTIQ image chain” implemented in the Artis icono, which supposedly “redesigns image processing for 2D imaging”. The technology works to optimize images taken from different angles and in patients big and small. The system attempts to minimize radiation exposure levels to comply with the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) concept.
The company’s improved roadmap function generates subtracted Angiography images that make it easier to guide interventional tools during subsequent fluoroscope exposures, in effect lowering the overall radiation dose that is delivered.
The Artis icono biplane system features the syngo DynaCT Sine Spin capability, a type of cone beam CT that minimizes image artifacts in the basal part of the brain and near the skull. The syngo DynaCT Multiphase, on the other hand, generates time-resolved cone beam CT volumes that can avoid having to move the patient to a CT for closer examination.
