Role of Pulses in Indian Agriculture
India has only three per cent of the world's land resources and five per cent of water resources. Yet, Indian Agriculture system supports 18 per cent of the world population. That is why Pulses occupy an important place in Indian agriculture. The production has not been able to keep pace with the demand, and the country has to rely on imports. However with new initiatives, it is expected that the production will increase soon.
