افتراضي Seminaries need to be reformed, says Fawad

RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry has said that funding of proscribed organisations is being checked and they are being disarmed as several people of these organisations wanted to join national mainstream voluntarily. The minister expressed these views while talking to host Shehzad Iqbal in the Geo’s programme ‘Naya Pakistan Shehzad Iqbal Kay Saath’ on Sunday. He said that that there is a need of reforms in the whole educational system with madrassa reforms. He said that the government would run the administrative control of the madrassas which were taken over by it. He said that government had allocated budget for these madaris. Fawad Chaudhry said that merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) was a big act under the National Action Plan (NAP). He said that the government is bound to take action against those organisations on which UN had expressed reservation. He said that trilateral strategy has been chalked out against banned organisations and there are economic, political and administrative measures under that strategy. He said that several people of these organisations wanted to join national mainstream voluntarily and such people should be given a chance to merge themselves in the society by leaving evil path and with economy’s restoration no citizen should be stopped from taking part in the politics. The minister said that the phase of NAP, which was being launched, is different from the plan launched by the past governments. Past governments failed in madrassa reforms and other issues. He said that country would face economic hardships if conditions of FATF were not met. Senator Rehman Malik, while taking part in Geo’s ‘Naya Pakistan’, said that government action against proscribed organisations is a cosmetic solution. He proposed that 14-year sentence should be included by bringing amendment to Terrorism Act. He said that whatever case happens in Pakistan is considered money-laundering and the results will not be different from the past if superfluous action is taken without making law.PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry said that banned outfits and their leadership could not be brought in national mainstream and there is no issue with those who are not terrorists as they can take part in politics. He said that such a modus operandi should be made clear that people involved in terrorism cannot be allowed to run any NGO or take part in the politics. He said that country, fighting terrorism, did not have any interior minister. The leader of QWP Aftab Sherpao said that NAP should be implemented completely. He criticised that government will start recalling NAP when any incident happens. He said several things will improve automatically if NAP is implemented. He said that disarming of proscribed organisations and eliminating means of their funding should be made first priority. He said that Fata was merged with KP but no further reforms could take place.Seminaries need reformed, says Fawad
