The Lobster filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos's newest project brings us a tale of royal intrigue, betrayal, and a whole lot of madness. Set in the early 18th century, The Favourite takes us behind the scenes of Queen Anne's reign.
The queen is frail and more concerned with duck racing than governing her country during its war with the French. She's cared for by her close friend, Lady Sarah, who also handles her political affairs. A new servant, Abigail, arrives just as England's war with the French thickens, and she begins to fill in as the queen's trusted companion while Sarah is busy with politics. Abigail soon replaces Sarah as Queen Anne's favorite and thus begins an insane battle for power.
The historical drama has a heavy-hitting cast, including Olivia Colman as Queen Anne, Rachel Weisz as Lady Sarah, and Emma Stone as Abigail. The Trailer alone has us intrigued and ready to dive right into the madness! Watch it above, and look out for The Favourite in theaters on Nov. 23.
