I recently bought a new horse that has turned out to be younger than told. I was told she was 8 but is probably about 5. She is a lovely wee mare but she hadn't been hacked much at her last home. I have tried hacking, leading and long reined but she seems very nervous, shouting for the others and skitters like a cow, and naps. I have decided to go out in company for a few times, but she still tries and naps when we set off. My problem is, What do I put in her mouth? When she naps, she spins that quick and takes off for a few strides then when I try to get her back round, she pulls her head round that hard the bit is pulling through her mouth. I have put a fulmar jointed snaffle that I had, on her, which helps but the other day she tried to get her tongue over the bit, didn't manage it, but I have no brakes.I don't know What to use, especially with her being young. Thanks for reading my long post!
