The BJP has 104 members in the Assembly including the pro-tem speaker, and required the support of at least 7 members from the opposition ranks. Speaking in the Assembly, Yeddyurappa gave an emotional speech saying the mandate of the people is for a BJP government, and not with Congress and the JD(S).
