Ash who was pts Monday after rolling into a field ditch has left a bigger hold than I expected. We grazed the horses all together during the day but at night he and the other oldie (26 year old Anglo arab) were moved into another field together with a lot more grass on it to keep their weight up.Now he has gone his oldie companion is quiet and only picking at his food .The two younger horses are unsettled every time I put the oldie in with them the one won't let him settle just moves him on all the time. Not nasty particularly but he just persues him.I have had to separate the Anglo arab putting him on a field next to my neighbours shelands who he can see over the fence and he gets on with.I can't risk him getting injured .Ash was not head of the herd neither was he bottom. The head is the one doing the pursuing and the bottom is the Anglo.I can't understand it this NEVER happened before they got on quietly grazing together no trouble and happy to be separated into 2 pairs at night with no calling or bother.Any advice? They all saw Ash after he passed.Currently looking at loaning a 18 year old quieter 14.3 pony as a companion for the oldie.PLUS I really miss him even though I knew at 30 he could go at anytime now many 17hh x racing T\B get to 30!.
