Evgenia Medvedeva Didn't Win First Place, but This Performance Was Still Gold Medal W
 The final evening of figure skating in the 2018 Winter Olympics was nothing short of dramatic. Evgenia Medvedeva, 18, from Team OAR came to Pyeongchang, South Korea, as the favorite to win the Gold medal, but the world couldn't ignore the presence of Evegnia's teammate, 15-year-old Alina Zagitova. The two battled head-to-head in the free skate, which would finalize the gold, silver, and bronze medalists. Evgenia skated her heart out to an Anna Karenina medley. She Didn't miss a single turn or jump, and the whole thing was emotionally moving. She earned herself 156.65 points, which gave her a total of 238.26 points after combined with her score from the short program. Related You Have to See This Flawless Performance From Olympic Figure Skater Adam Rippon Although most of the world thought This would be enough for her to take home Gold (even Johnny Weir thought she was going to win!), Alina's final score was 239.57, so Evgenia lost First place by a mere point. The toughest part to stomach is that Alina and Evgenia are teammates and they work with the same coach, so not only are they rivals, but they're friends, too. Evgenia may not have won gold, but she certainly gave a gold-medal Performance and she deserves credit for her hard work and dedication. And many people on Twitter think she should've received gold. I had chills for almost the entire program. Regardless of who wins, I will be watching This Performance over and over again for YEARS to come. Evgenia is the better skater. Zagitova is a jumping machine, but Medvedeva is the whole package.
