This is not the first time that a CPM leader was caught in the midst of controversy when it comes to splurge in spending. Earlier, it was state health minister who had purchased glasses worth Rs 28,000 and got it reimbursed, while Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan had purchased a pair of spectacles for nearly Rs 50,000.
