I have two horses living out, the field is off a footpath hence the passing walkers. It's about 3.5 acres. The past 2 years it's been ungrazable from Christmas and I've pulled the horses out (not literally 😉)This year it's doing ok having far better grass cover as I rested it from August til December and so the horses are still out. It's muddy by the gateway as most are now and has a big pool of standing water which still is grassy underneath. Basically if I got through the gate I could walk all round it give or take a few patches without wellies. This I take as it's ok to keep grazing. If I was soaked and muddy I'd rethink, however passing people are making comments about the "poor horses" and I'm a bit worried people are thinking it cruel. There alternative is far wetter but out of sight! So I prefer to keep using this one. It has great natural shelter from all directions, they live out, are rugged and fed daily. Both in good condition. Question is how wet is too wet in your opinion? Thanks :)
