Shahbaz sides with Nisar in rift with Pervaiz
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif threw his weight behind PML-N senior leader Chaudhry Nisar, after the former interior minister's tussle with fellow party leader Senator Pervaiz Rashid continued to deepen, it emerged on Friday.
Shahbaz, talking to a senior journalist, broke his silence on the issue making headlines for quite some time. He said the PML-N president and his brother Nawaz Sharif shouldntervene and try to resolve the matter between the two party leaders. The chief minister said Nisar was a senior leader and had been an aide to Nawaz since the 1980s and Pervaiz should not have passed certain statements. Recently, Pervaiz, in reference to Dawn Leaks controversy in an interview, said Nisar had passed "misleading statements about the party during testing times". The party should make a decision unanimously regarding Nisar, he said.
