In a rare interview with the BBC, Queen Elizabeth II shared memories of her coronation, and got to grips, quite literally, with the Imperial State Crown that she wore on the day (and continues to wear for events like the state opening of parliament). In an unwittingly hilarious clip, the Crown is gently placed in front of her by a member of staff wearing gloves, and the Queen wastes no time in grabbing hold of it. "This is what I do when I wear it!" she grins, spinning the Crown round to admire the jewels.

"There are some disadvantages to crowns, but otherwise they're quite important things," she explains, while describing exactly how to wear one (head up, or You'll break your neck). She's later reunited with St Edward's Crown, which she wore only once, at the very moment of her coronation. It's so precious it can only be held by the queen, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and the Crown jeweler. "Is it still as heavy?" she asks, before picking it up with one hand like it's just another piece of old costume jewelry. "It's very solid, isn't it?" she continues, as she pokes at the edges of the intricate design.
Unsurprisingly, the people of twitter had a lot to say about the queen's relaxed attitude towards these priceless pieces.
