LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the PTI by impeding the construction of Orange Line Metro Train project, delayed the project by 22 months. The chief minister said they will compensate the delay in the project with hard work, dedication and passion, adding that we all have to join hands for swift completion of the project.
The CM visited OLMT project of Lahore early Sunday morning without protocol. He remained there for 2 hours, inspecting construction work at different sites of the project. He reviewed the progress of civil, mechanical and electrical works and visited various stations.
He also went to the underground area and reviewed the construction, directing for expediting the work and ensuring round-the-clock work on the project. Talking on this occasion, the chief minister said this project will provide the common man with decent and world-class travelling facilities and completion of the project will bring revolution in transport sector.
He said OLMT Lahore was likely to operate on December 25 last month and facilitate three lakh people daily who would be travelling from Dera Gujran to Alipur, but the PTI has proven its ill will against the masses. They also wasted the time of people of KP and of Peshawar, he added. He said some political elements have demonstrated enmity against people by obstructing the project and these are those who could not lay a brick of Metro Bus project in KP.He said he is personally monitoring the progress on the project and they will burn midnight oil for early completion of this project. OLMT project Lahore is a great gift of China for the people of Pakistan, he added. He said this project is a key step for diminishing the difference between rich and poor as through Metro train, common man will also be able to travel with pride. After the visit, the chief minister chaired a meeting at Model Town regarding OLMT project. Detailed briefing was given on the progress of project as well as headway of construction work. CR NORINCO officials assured the meeting of completion of project as soon as possible. Chinese officials said they will do their best to complete the project soon according to the vision of the chief minister.
