ISLAMABAD:-While his political rivals keep guessing about the purpose of Nawaz Sharif?s dash to Saudi Arabia and the objective it achieved, the former prime minister has returned as a man humbled by his accomplishment.
However, what he understands to have accomplished is far from the guesses made by media pundits and speculations triggered by his political rivals. ?Allah nay meray say ek bohat acha kaam liya hay (God chose me for a noble task)? is what he told his close aides. Mere this one sentence negates the impression created in his absence as if he was there to broker a deal for himself, said one source. This is indicative of the fact he wasn?t there for personal business. Instead, he was there to play his role on an issue related to others. Although Nawaz Sharif was hesitant to discuss details even with close aides, what has come out so far indicates that Sharif brothers were called in for mediation between two Muslim countries which have been at odds with each other for quite sometimes. As Sharifs have excellent relationship with the leadership of both countries, this put them in a unique position to play role in mending their differences. How far they have achieved remains unknown but Nawaz Sharif sounded quite confident and accomplished, according to a couple of sources who met him after the visit. Nawaz Sharif is likely to visit Turkey within a month or so in response to an invitation from Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim during their meeting in Saudi Arabia. The rumors mills started running high soon after Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif flew to Saudi Arabia on December 27 through a special plane sent by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman. As Nawaz Sharif also departed for Jeddah the following day, speculations increased manifold. Media came up with a variety of fabrications. A Pakistani journalist writing for British newspaper, The Times, reported that an exile deal for the former prime minister was under negotiation in Jeddah. According to the purported deal, he would opt for the exile in return of the closure of corruption cases against him.A TV channel meanwhile reported that both brothers were under investigation in Jeddah in connection with Saudi crackdown against corruption. A photo-shopped picture was also in circulation wherein Nawaz Sharif was shown kissing the hands of the Crown Prince. Meanwhile, Sharif?s political opponents criticised them for allegedly using Saudi pressure to gain political concession through negotiations with the establishment. أكثر... ??????? ??????: ?God chose me for a noble task,?
