LAHORE: Former Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman Gen Khalid Shamim Wynne was laid to rest in Lahore Monday, Geo News reported. Wynne, the 14th CJCSC, died in a road accident Saturday while travelling to Lahore via Motorway, according to Inter-Services Public Relations. COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, former president Asif Ali Zardari and former army chief Gen Raheel Sharif (retd) attended the funeral prayers.*Former Gen Raheel Sharif, who is presently based in Riyadh as the head of the Saudi-led Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, is in Lahore on a private visit. Gen Wynne retired on October 7, 2013. According to reports, Wynne?s SUV overturned near the Chakri Interchange on the way to Lahore. Wynne was injured in the accident and succumbed to his injuries. A friend accompanying the former general also died on the spot while Wynne?s son, who was critically injured, was shifted to a hospital, where he is under treatment.
