LAHORE: Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar observed on Thursday that no court in the country would issue a stay order against any anti-encroachment operation.
Hearing a petition, the apex court asked the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) director general how a private hospital, Hameed Latif Hospital, was constructed in a residential area at Ferozepur Road of Lahore. The Lahore Development Authority chief submitted documents to the court and stated that whenever the Authority takes an action against commercial establishments in residential areas, the courts issue stay orders. The chief justice observed that now onwards no court would issue any stay order against any campaign against illegal buildings and encroachments.The CJ directed the Lahore Development Authority to conduct a visit of the hospital and check how much area it had encroached on and submit a report in 10 days. He remarked that hospitals? disposable waste had reached dangerous proportions, which must be checked. The SC also ordered immediate closure of all illegal marriage halls in the city, and sought a detailed report on marriage halls and parking areas in the city from the LDA till January 6. The court also sought a report on parking area of a plaza, being constructed in Gulberg currently.
