JI threatens sit-in on 31st if Fata not merged with KP

ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami has threatened to stage a mammoth sit-in in Islamabad on Dec 31 if the government did not start the process of Fata?s merger with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Addressing a long march to Islamabad protesting the delay in the KP-Fata merger,* Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq said that the people of Fata want their rights. They also want abolishment of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FRC) after Fata?s merger with the KP, he added.

Sirajul Haq warned the government to ensure merger of the tribal areas with the KP before Dec 31.

He said that the people of Fata want to see their children well-educated.

Earlier, the united opposition boycotted the National Assembly session and announced that it would not attend the proceedings until the Fata Reforms Bill is tabled in the parliament by the government.
