Those aren't humans inside the rocket-powered cars of Rocket League. Those are weird egg people.

A new autumn-themed arena is coming to Rocket League later this month, and it includes an interesting detail that confirms the Rocket League universe is populated by egg people. Here's a screenshot of a billboard found outside the arena, courtesy of the Rocket League website:
