ISLAMABAD: The government on Saturday submitted to the Supreme Court the statements and transcripts of speeches made by the PML-N leaders in the last two months as well as details of advertisements issued to the print and electronic media.A three-member special Implementation Bench on PanamaLeak’s verdict had directed Attorney General Asther Ausaf on July 10 to provide the transcripts of all the speeches made in the last 60 days by the PML-N leaders Talal Chaudhry, Railways Minister Saad Rafique and the PM's Special Assistant on Political Affairs Asif Kirmani, presumably to examine them for contemptuous content. The bench is headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Afzal Khan and comprises Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijazul Ahsen. The court had also directed the attorney general to submit details within a week pertaining to the advertisements issued by the federal government to the print and electronic media besides directing registration of an FIR against the Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Zafar Hijazi for tampering with the official record pertaining to the Sharif family business. The court directed registration of an FIR after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) report found Zafar Hijazi tampering with the official record pertaining to Sharif family business. The court on June 19 directed the DG Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate the allegations leveled by the JIT against Zafar Hijazi. In its report, the FIA had identified Zafar Hijazi as the culprit behind changing the official record of the Chaudhry Sugar Mills owned by the Sharif family to help their case. The court ordered the registration of an FIR against Mr Hijazi after the Attorney General Ashter Ausaf informed the court of the result of the FIA's inquiry. During the course of proceedings, the Joint Investigation Team, headed by Wajid Zia, submitted its final report in 10 volumes. The court decided to make the report public. Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan said the petitioners and respondents may get copies of the report from the SC registrar ****** and further hearing on the report will be resumed from Monday, July 17. In pursuance to the court’s direction, the Attorney General ****** on Saturday submitted a 107-page reply, containing details about the statements and transcripts of all speeches made in the last 60 days by PML-N leaders. Submitted by Waqar Rana, Additional Attorney General, the reply also contains details of advertisements given by the government to both print and electronic media. Meanwhile, Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique also visited the Supreme Court on Saturday. According to AG ****** sources, he met Additional Attorney General Aamir Rehman, who what sources said was his close friend and held detailed deliberations over the cases, pending with the apex court related to his ministry. Meanwhile, Khwaja Saad Rafique during his media talk called Panama Papers a “foreign-sponsored conspiracy” targeting Pakistan adding that many people in this world did **t want to see a powerful Pakistan. He said the JIT report will be challenged in the Supreme Court, adding that he had advised the party leadership to avail themselves of constitutional protection. He however expressed ig**rance whether the Sharif family had planned to submit the draft petition challenging the JIT report today or on Monday.
