Aftab Sherpao says JIT report should be tackled with care
PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) head Aftab Sherpao has said the Joint Investigation Team report is serious matter as it involves a sitting prime minister and his family and it should be tackled carefully.
Addressing a press conference, he said the ruling party had made a right decision to contest the issue in the court as it would auger well for the system, adding the decision of the court should be ho**ured. On the occasion, Muhammad Ilyas, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate for PK-21 Charsadda along with family and scores of supporters resigned from party and an**unced joining the QWP. Aftab Sherpao said that the JIT report was a unique development in the political history of the country because it had made a sitting prime minister and his family accountable. He hailed the decision of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz to contest the report in court, saying that it was a right step as it would strengthen the trust in institutions. The QWP, he contended, has been staunch supporter of democracy hence the government should adopt legal and constitutional ways to tackle the issue. He warned that any illegal step would be detrimental to the democratic system, therefore, utmost efforts should be made to save the system from any damage.
