ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday termed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a security risk and urged the Supreme Court to put his name in the Exit Control List (ECL). Imran Khan said at a media conference outside his Banigala residence that the masses should be prepared, as the situation was leading to the one in 1997, when the PML-N had attacked the Supreme Court, fearing that Justice Sajjad Ali Shah-led apex court was to deliver a judgment against Nawaz Sharif. The PTI chief contended that the Sharifs had got the idea that the JIT report would lead to disqualification of Nawaz Sharif and that was why they had stepped up their campaign against it and the Supreme Court. He charged that rejecting the JIT report was like rejecting the Supreme Court’s judgement. Imran questioned how could the ministers, who are paid from the taxpayers’ money, defend Nawaz Sharif. Imran said he had already asked his party to get ready after seeing the four ministers’ news conference a day earlier. He questioned how could they reject the JIT report, which was formed by the Supreme Court for further probe against the Sharif family. “The JIT was **t formed for the Sharifs,” he clarified. “I am asking the nation to remain prepared. This is a war for the future of the country as the rulers are driving it towards destruction just to hide their own corruption,” he alleged, referring to the Sharif family members and ministers what he called threats to the JIT, the apex court and the army. He also called for making the JIT report public after it was presented in the apex court. Imran said it appeared they (Sharifs) were aiming for a direct attack on the Supreme Court, having understood that the judgement was coming against Nawaz Sharif, as they failed to provide credible evidence with regards to their London flats while the Qatari prince also declined to do so. The PTI chairman believed the PML-N's decision to reject the JIT report was out of fear that the investigation would lead to the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. "The Supreme Court did **t create the JIT for them (the Sharif family). How did they say that they won't accept the JIT? The team has to report to the SC, **t them," Imran emphasised, while coming down hard on the ministers. Imran wondered were they unaware two months ago that the Qatari letter would be rubbished, if he failed to testify and referred to an observation by one of the SC judges. He added that since the Qatari prince was their business partner in whose, flats, Nawaz Sharif’s sons stayed, and they had given money to buy them, financed them in setting up their business then, it was their responsibility to bring him here for confirmation of all this with evidence. **w, he pointed out, one day before the report was to be submitted to the Supreme Court, the PML-N leaders were saying that they would **t accept it. He **ted that although various members of the Sharif family, who appeared before the JIT, were smiling and waving and they came out with frowning, complaining about him (Imran) and how the JIT did **t answer their questions. "What is evident from their faces when they come out is that they k**w the JIT investigation has reached a point where Nawaz Sharif is going to be disqualified. And, how can they ask questions from the JIT,” he wondered. He added that it was the apex court, which tasked the FIA and it found the record of Chaudhry Sugar Mills tampered at the SECP, whose chairman was appointed on the behest of Ishaq Dar. The PTI chairman said they (Sharifs) should also go to prison for considering the entire nation fool and trying to befool it. He went on to allege that Nawaz Sharif had brought the judiciary under control after Justice Sajjad Ali Shah. Replying to questions, he said even international pressure would **t be able to rescue Nawaz. Imran spoke highly for the media and working journalists for their contribution to democracy in Pakistan and said he would never forget the night when amid shelling journalists and cameramen stood their ground for coverage on August 30, 2014. Meanwhile, Imran Khan summoned a consultative meeting of his party today (Monday). The meeting is expected to discuss the possible scenario in the wake of the JIT report and the most likely reaction of the government. Moreover, the forum will also discuss cases in the apex court and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the party leadership. According to PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry, Imran has decided **t to go to the apex court today (Monday) and has also barred other party leaders to stay away from the top court. أكثر... |
