افتراضي PML-N at sea with ** proof of money trail: PTI

PML-N with proof money trail: ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Saturday said the ruling PML-N leaders were all at sea and it was clear to all that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his children had ** proof to prove the money trail in the PanamaLeaks case.

Reacting to the press conference by four senior federal ministers here, PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said it was quite evident that the rulers were nervous and knew what the JIT was going to do with the Sharif family.

He disputed the ministers’ contention that they would **t accept the JIT report without incorporation of Qatari prince’s testimony in the report and insisted it was the Sharif family’s duty to fetch him for this purpose.

He insisted that the Qatari prince had a long history of relations with the Sharif family and hence they should have brought him before the JIT.

“If this was **t possible, he could have sent the money trail through a courier,” he said.

“The Qatari prince has **w refused to recognise the jurisdiction of Pakistani courts. This means whatever he sent to Supreme Court or the JIT has ** value,” said the PTI Central Secretary Information Shafqat Mehmood in a statement.

Shafqat said the Qatari’s latest stance had completely undermined Sharifs because other than his letter they had ** documented evidence to justify the legitimacy of properties abroad. The Sharif family is attacking the JIT for **t visiting the Qatari prince at home to record his statement.

He said the house of Sharif was responsible to produce the Qatari for being their defence witness.

“In every court/police investigation witnesses appear on their behalf produced by the defence but why Sharifs are reluctant to produce the Qatari before the JIT,” he asked.

“The Qatari prince could visit Pakistan for hunting Houbara Bustard. He could come here for getting favour for a power project but can**t appear before the JIT.

Panama inquiry is a game changer because never again would a corrupt leader rest easy. He would always k**w that he can be held to account,” he said.

“Our tragedy has been that many we trusted to be our leaders robbed the nation with impunity and when caught they cried political victimisation.

Our second greatest tragedy is that our legal system is too weak and compromised to hold these corrupt leaders to account.”

Meanwhile, addressing a news conference here, PTI spokesperson Fawad Hussain Chaudhry said from day one the Sharifs wanted to make the judiciary, the army and the JIT controversial.

He insisted that Pakistan had changed today and the Constitution would prevail while the Sharifs wanted the army to intervene and send them home.

He contended that they were prepared for the bigger JIT (elections) and challenged the government to dissolve the assemblies.

He questioned why the ministers had **w raised objections to the two JIT members, whereas they had ** objection to its composition earlier and even before that they could have gone for the Supreme Court’s judgement review, but they did **t and enjoyed eating sweets.

Fawad said the Supreme Court judgement would be implemented and what would be the JIT report was quite evident from the faces of ministers during their press conference earlier.

He made it clear that the political process would continue side by side with accountability of corrupt rulers and claimed that ‘today the ministers talked to the media **t for Nawaz but for themselves, as after him they would also be held accountable.

He said either the Qatari’s letter had turned out to be fake or the JIT had got hold of genuine documents with regard to the matter and that the London flats were bought in 1993-94 by the Sharifs and the law firm had confirmed it through documents.

He came down hard on the Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique for casting aspersions on the security agencies, namely the ISI and the Military Intelligence.

He also disputed the ministers’ claim that a conspiracy was being hatched against the Sharif family and Pakistan and said the ICIJ had independently carried out investigations and came up with PanamaLeaks and got international award also.

Fawad said the PML-N had always been part and parcel of every conspiracy be it the fall of Junejo government, removal of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto government and receiving funds from the ISI for toppling an elected government.

“For any conspiracy, the PML-N has been its integral part,” he alleged.

He said this time Nawaz’s three children had conspired against him with regard to his London apartments, as initially they denied the ownership and later accepted it after the ICIJ exposed them.

Fawad questioned the logic behind the ministers’ an**uncement that they would **t accept the JIT report unless the Qatari prince’s testimony was made part of it.

“How could they do so when the investigation has been completed after following the apex court orders? This will be a joke with the nation after it waited for 126 days of proceedings of the apex court and then the JIT’s 63 days during which the Sharif family members appeared before it and are **w expressing **-confidence in it,” he said.

He asked the PML-N parliamentary party to act with responsibility and don’t derail the process for one individual.

PTI’s Babar Awan tweeted that the rulers should let the JIT come first and then they may reject it.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Imran Khan Saturday said charged that the prime minister had revealed his undemocratic mindset once again by saying that the masses will do his Ehtesab (accountability).

“This twisted logic is a negation of democracy. Elections are a central pivot of democracy but so are the rule of law and accountability including of the elected representatives,” Imran said in his social media messages while reacting to the prime minister’s speech in Jhang.

“People elect their representatives and expect them to be accountable to law. They don’t expect those they elect to abuse the law with impunity,” he said.

Imran wrote that Islamic and Western democratic traditions both uphold the **rm of all being accountable and equal before the law of land.

He said Nawaz Sharif was complaining that development was being impeded because he was being investigated for corruption and he should k**w that development was damaged because of corruption.

“Development only happens when institutions are strong, government/leaders are clean and accountable before the law of the land,” Imran maintained.
