Nine migrants killed in Bulgaria

SOFIA: Nine migrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan were killed and nine others were injured in a minibus accident in southern Bulgaria on Sunday, police said. The minibus was apparently driven by a 16-year-old Bulgarian who did **t have a driver’s licence. He was among the dead. The bus was on the motorway near Pazardjik, close to the Greek and Turkish borders. Police said the migrants did **t have any identity documents with them but the survivors said they were Afghan and Pakistani nationals. In recent months, European Union member Bulgaria has seen a fall in the number of illegal migrants crossing from its southeastern border with Turkey, which was almost completely sealed with a razor-wire-topped fence. Most refugees seek to continue their journey to western and **rthern Europe.



Prince Harry starts visit in Singapore

SINGAPORE: Britain’s Prince Harry began a goodwill visit to Asia on a subdued **te on Sunday following a deadly terror attack in London. The fifth in line to the throne attended a reception at Eden Hall, the British High Commissioner’s official residence in Singapore where a flag flew at half-mast in respect for the seven killed in Saturday night’s carnage. Harry met staff and volunteers of Singaporean AIDS and mental health charities, issues close to his heart following the efforts of his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. Harry, his brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate have started Heads Together, a campaign intended to remove the stigma surrounding mental health problems.



Eiffel Tower to go dark for London attack victims

PARIS: The lights at the Eiffel Tower will be switched off Sunday night to ho**ur victims of the attack in the heart of London that killed seven people and injured 48, the company running the monument said on Twitter. "Tonight, at 1245 am, I will turn my lights off to pay tribute to the victims of the London attack," the Eiffel Tower’s Twitter feed said. The Paris landmark has been switched off twice already this week, once for the victims of suicide blasts in Baghdad that killed at least 42 people and most recently to ho**ur the 90 people killed in a huge truck bomb in Kabul.
