UN ho**urs five Pakistani peacekeepers posthumously
 UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations has ho**ured five Pakistani peacekeepers, who lost their lives while serving in the UN peacekeeping operation during 2016.Pakistani nationals were ho**ured at a ceremony marked the annual International Day of peacekeepers on Wednesday. Acting Pakistan Permanent Representative to UN, Nabeel Munir, received the awards on behalf of the families of fallen peacekeepers. Over 112 other military, police and civilians peacekeepers from 43 countries were also awarded with the Dag Hammarskjold Medal posthumously. Speaking on the occasion, UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres said, “Every day, peacekeepers help bring peace and stability to war-torn societies around the world.” Pakistani peacekeepers include Havildar Abdul Majeed Khan, Havildar Zishan Ahmed, Lt-Colonel Muhammad Ashraf, Naik Qaiser Abbas and Ms. Shabnam Khan. Pakistan is one of the largest contributors of military and police personnel to UN peacekeeping.
