Khawar Qureshi hired as India’s counsel in 2004

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday cornered Congress after it was revealed that the party-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government had hired Pakistan's Khawar Qureshi to represent India in the “sensitive” Dabhol power project case in 2004. **tably, Qureshi was the counsel of Pakistan before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the case of Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav. However, he has **w been replaced by Pakistan's Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf Ali. Addressing a press conference a day after Zee News Editor-in-Chief Sudhir Chaudhry on his show Daily News and Analysis (DNA) revealed that Qureshi was recommended by law firm Fox Mandal for the Dabhol power project case, the BJP today ‘exposed the hypocrisy of Congress’.

very short **tice: Indian air chief

NEW DELHI: The Indian air force chief has asked his ******rs to be prepared for operations at short **tice and “with our present holdings”, sending out rare individual letters to 12,000-odd personnel of the country’s air defence wing, reported foreign media. The letter by Air Chief Marshal BS Dha**a, the chief of air staff, was signed on March 30, an IAF source said. The missive comes amid heightened tensions with Pakistan and occasional verbal exchanges with China, mainly over cross-border terrorism and spike in militancy in Kashmir. “In the present scenario, there is an ever persistent sub-conventional threat. Therefore, we need to be prepared for operations with our present holdings, at a very short **tice. Training needs to be focused towards this,” media reports quoted the air chief as saying.



Four killed in held Kashmir firefight

HELD SRINAGAR: Two soldiers and two suspected miliants were killed on Saturday in held Kashmir near the border that divides the disputed territory with Pakistan, the Indian army said. Indian army spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said the four died during an exchange of fire. "Two terrorists attempting infiltration into our side in held Kashmir in Naugam sector were eliminated. Two soldiers were also killed in the exchange of fire," he said. Militant groups have fought for decades roughly 500,000 Indian soldiers deployed in the territory, demanding independence or a merger of the territory with Pakistan.
