MPs ask as to how dispute was settled in closed doors
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other Opposition parties in the National Assembly on Tuesday demanded the government to table report of the DawnLeaks Inquiry Commission for discussion in Lower House of the Parliament. “How the dispute was settled in closed doors after the interior minister and corps commanders conference had termed the Leaks as breach of the national security,” Dr Shireen Mazari, Asad Umar and other Opposition members said while speaking on points of order. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Tariq Fatemi, who was ******* as Special Assistant to Prime Minister, was also held responsible in the light of report of the inquiry commission but he accompanied the premier on China tour. “This is a big joke with the nation,” he said, adding that Fatemi was seen during the MoU signing ceremony. Shireen Mazari said as the matter concerns to the national security, therefore, the Leaks report should be presented in the House. “If the news story was correct, then the civilian government accused the military leadership and if it was wrong then who planted the same,” she said. Asad Umar said it was an important issue for both the nation and parliament. He said the basic theme of the news was that the military was taking some actions which have been isolating the country. “If this news story was correct, then how Pervaiz Rashid and Rao Tehsin could stop it from publishing and why the matter was referred to the APNS,” he said, and questioned that what was the link of Tariq Fatemi with the Leaks. Asad Umar said if contents of the news story were false then who was behind its publication. “The parliament can never close eyes to this issue of national importance,” he said. The PTI lawmaker said that India made full use of the Leaks. He said formulating foreign policy was the job of the government but the armed forces should **t be blamed under a conspiracy. Munazza Hasan said the inquiry commission was set up on an issue of national security, but its report was being kept secret from public. She said Pervaiz Rashid was *******, Tariq Fatemi rejected the charges against him while Rao Tehsin had also challenged action against him in the court. Syed Naveed Qamar said the report of the inquiry commission could **t be dragged under the carpet. He said the government should tell the nation whether the report was correct or wrong. Sheikh Salahuddin proposed that a separate session should be held to discuss issues like the News Leaks and Hamudur Rehman Commission report. The MQM member said **w Leaks-II had surfaced according to which China was being given land in the Punjab and other provinces. “We respect friendship with China, but the history of East India Company should **t be repeated,” he said. Meanwhile, the House rejected the Panama Papers Inquiry Bill, 2017 after it was opposed by Law Minister Zahid Hamid on the ground that the Supreme Court had already given its verdict on the issue and Joint Investigation Team (JIT) had been formed to probe the matter. “The bill has become infructuous following the SC verdict,” the minister said. The bill, which was already passed by the Senate, was moved by Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho of the PPP in the National Assembly. The mover of the bill and other Opposition members including Syed Naveed Qamar said that bill should be taken up and passed as names of other people have also been mentioned in the Panama Papers and inquiry should also be held against them. The House passed the Senate Secretariat Service Bill, 2017 which for regulates appointments of persons and terms and conditions of services of persons in the Senate Secretariat. أكثر... ??????? ??????: Opposition seeks NA debate on Leaks report || ??????: ahlam1399 || ??????: اسم منتداك
