Shahbaz working harder than us: Chinese minister
 BEIJING: Chinese Vice minister Zheng Xiaosong of International Department of Communist Party of China on Saturday said although the Chinese nation was very hardworking, Punjab Chief minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was working harder than them. During a meeting with the Punjab chief minister here, he said development projects were going on at an accelerated pace in the Punjab and Shahbaz Sharif’s speed of work was referred to as the “Punjab Speed” in China. He said it was **t Punjab Speed but “Shahbaz Speed”. He said the future of Punjab was bright and shining under the leadership of Shahbaz Sharif. Shahbaz said Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime minister Li Keqiang had played an important role in making China the second largest eco**mic power of the world. He said China cooperated with Pakistan and proved its friendship when it was facing terrorism and energy crisis. Shahbaz congratulated the Chinese leadership on holding the summit and said Pakistan fully supported it. He said the project would be able to develop coordinated contacts with other Asian countries, Europe and Africa. He said the completion of China Pakistan Eco**mic Corridor (CPEC) would change the course of history in the region, which had created great investment and business opportunities. Separately, during a meeting with the top officials of Chinese National Energy Administration (NEA), Shahbaz said work was being carried out on coal, gas, solar, hydro and wind power projects in Punjab where an atmosphere conducive to investment in energy sector was had been created. Shahbaz said the Punjab government had taken immediate steps for power generation for meeting the demand and supply gap. “The interest of local and international investors has increased due to the best investment environment in the province resulting in unprecedented increase in the number of energy projects,” he added. He said the projects were being executed on the principles of IPPs and Public Power Project for generating more than 8,000 megawatts of electricity. Apart from large-scale power projects, he said the Punjab government had also launched off-grid solar power solutions for providing immediate relief to the people. He said investment in energy sector through the NEA would be welcomed. During an interaction, the chief minister briefed the media on record-breaking speedy completion of energy projects. He termed the electricity generation from Sahiwal Coal Power Project, in a short period of time, a big achievement, and congratulated the nation for it. He said the prime minister would inaugurate the 1,320-MW power plant in the current month. The chief minister said it was the first energy project being completed on fast-track basis under CPEC. Shahbaz was also present during the prime minister’s meeting with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which a range of matters concerning mutual interest came under discussion. The chief minister thanked the Turkish president for providing full support to improve healthcare system in Punjab. He said the development of Turkey was a result of hard work, selflessness and acumen under the dynamic leadership of Erdogan. “Turkey has emerged as a role model for countries from Casablanca to Kuala Lumpur.
